ALCS rotation

Just announced:
Game 1 @ Tampa: DiceK (6 days rest)
Game 2 @ Tampa: Beckett (5 days)
Game 3 Fenway: Lester (6 days)
Game 4 Fenway: Wakefield (2 weeks)
Game 5 Fenway: DiceK (5 days)
Game 6 @ Tampa: Beckett (6 days)
Game 7 @ Tampa: Lester (5 days)
Francona has clearly decided to optimize his rotation for rest rather than prior playoff performance. In other words, you could start Beckett and Lester in games 1 and 2 and each would be on normal (4 days) rest. One thing I don't like about this rotation is that 3 of the first 5 games are started by your inferior pitchers -- who knows what Wake will give you, and DiceK has been pretty bad in the playoffs these past two years. But, maybe the Sox know something I don't, namely, how well you can expect a pitcher to perform, especially at the end of the year, with extra rest. And, there is something to be said for having DiceK start the series, when the bullpen is fully rested, because he is least likely to get you through 7 innings.
